Juventus receives 'substantial offer' for Chelsea target Alex Sandro

Juventus' chief executive officer Giuseppe Marotta revealed that a substantial offer has been submitted for Chelsea target Alex Sandro.

While he wouldn't disclose the details of the bid, Marotta admitted the club is hopeful of retaining assets this summer, but insisted that players will not be prohibited from leaving if they're eager to depart.

"A substantial offer has arrived," Marotta told Sky Sport Italia, as translated by Vaishali Bhardwaj of the Evening Standard.

"We have no intention of selling anyone, but if a player decides to leave, as has happened in previous years, then at the end of the day he has to go, because we don't keep anyone against their will.

"But at the moment there are no such situations and I hope nobody will leave."

Chelsea is believed to have stepped up its effort to sign Sandro after Marotta confirmed last week Juventus already rejected a "very high offer" from the Premier League side.

Completing a transfer for the 26-year-old will reportedly cost Chelsea, and other interested suitors, up to £60 million (€68 million). The Blues are also reportedly committed to offering Sandro a contract that will pay him £150,000 per week.

His possible arrival at Stamford Bridge would reunite Sandro with manager Antonio Conte, who was instrumental in bringing the Brazilian international to Juve in 2015 after completing a €26-million (£22.9 million) transfer from FC Porto.

Sandro scored three goals and added four assists during 27 Serie A appearances last term.
