Report: Sarri hopeful of dream move after reps meet with Chelsea
Maurizio Sarri is reportedly confident his goal of managing Chelsea will materialise after his representatives met with officials from the Premier League club.
Chelsea is currently in the process of determining whether to maintain its current course or move on from manager Antonio Conte, who followed up last season's Premier League title with a disappointing fifth-place finish, though he did manage to guide the Blues to FA Cup glory.
It's understood that club officials and Sarri's intermediaries held "lengthy" discussions in London on Friday, with Sarri telling friends that he expects to be offered the job, according to The Mirror's John Cross.
Matt Law of The Telegraph reports the former Napoli manager could put pen to paper on a two-year contract with an option for a third season.
After Napoli's appointment of Carlo Ancelotti, Law adds that the Italian side, which finished second behind champion Juventus, could waive the release clause in Sarri's contract if Chelsea is willing to part ways with out-of-favour defender David Luiz.
Chelsea may need to act quickly in resolving Conte's future, as Fabrizio Romano of the Guardian reports that Sarri has been offered the Zenit St. Petersburg job in a deal that would see the 59-year-old earn £5.2 million per year.
