Report: Balotelli denied access to Brescia's training facility
Brescia barred Mario Balotelli from entering the club's training facility Tuesday because he was uninsured upon arrival, sources told ESPN's Andrew Cesare Richardson.
The struggling Serie A side is expected to terminate Balotelli's contract due to his extended absence from training. The 29-year-old claims he was unable to take part because of an injury.
Balotelli would've been granted access to the training ground if he had submitted the relevant paperwork before Monday evening, according to Richardson.
However, it's clear the striker's relationship with his hometown club is nearing a bitter end less than a year after arriving. Brescia reportedly notified Balotelli's lawyer last week that they're severing ties with the player.
Brescia president Massimo Cellino publicly questioned Balotelli's commitment to the team last month.
"Mario is an unusual boy and it is also obvious that his mind is no longer with us, nothing different from what he has always been," Cellino said.
Brescia can ill afford any distractions as the Serie A season picks up. They're currently in last place and nine points from safety with 12 matches left.
Balotelli joined Brescia in August following several years in Ligue 1 with Nice and Marseille. He's scored just five goals in 19 Serie A appearances this season.
