Higuain officially leaves Juventus ahead of MLS move
Juventus bid farewell to Gonzalo Higuain on Thursday after announcing the forward's contract has been terminated by mutual consent.
"There were many battles together, many goals scored, with many often decisive," the defending Serie A champions said in a statement. "Now, the paths of Gonzalo Higuain and Juventus go their separate ways: Pipita, after winning his third Scudetto, has officially taken off his black and white shirt."
The next chapter of Higuain's career is expected to take place in the United States, with reports linking the 32-year-old to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami.
Higuain scored 66 goals and won the Serie A title three times with Juve after his arrival from Napoli in 2016.
Juventus signed Higuain for €90 million the summer after he finished the 2015-16 season as Serie A's top scorer. His 36 goals matched an 87-year-old Serie A record for tallies in a single season.
Higuain struggled to replicate his success in Turin and was eventually loaned to Milan and Chelsea. He was given a chance to revive his Juve career last season and ended the 2019-20 campaign by winning his third Scudetto.
Higuain's older brother, Federico, plays in MLS with D.C. United.
Meanwhile, Juventus have been heavily linked with Roma forward Edin Dzeko, whose arrival at the Allianz Stadium is reportedly dependent on the Giallorossi signing Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli.
