Report: Southampton on verge of swapping Dani Osvaldo for Inter Milan's Saphir Taider
Southampton might actually benefit from a transfer for a change, as reports suggest the club is set receive a talented midfielder in exchange for the unwanted Dani Osvaldo.
Negotiations between The Saints and Inter Milan have taken place that will see the English side offload the disgruntled Italian midfielder in exchange for Saphir Taider of Algeria, according to Sky Sports.
Southampton signed Osvaldo for £12.8 million during the 2013 summer transfer window, but a bust-up during training with a teammate, which resulted in a suspension, saw his English career come to an end when he was loaned out to Juventus in January.
Taider is a central midfielder who featured in two matches for the impressive Algerian squad at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, including the side that held champions Germany scoreless through 90 minutes before losing in extra time.
The 22-year-old should get his fair share of playing time considering the number of players to leave Southampton this summer, and might give disheartened fans a sense of hope going into the new season.
Inter Milan's Hugo Campagnaro, 34, has also been rumored to be part of the exchange, but the services of the youthful Taider would be a far bigger attraction for The Saints.
