Report: Juventus in talks to sign Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich
Juventus may be closing in on a player they narrowly missed out on signing this past summer.
Sky Sport News in Germany reported the Italian club is on the verge of signing Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri on loan, with an option to make the deal permanent come the end of the season.
Juventus was rumoured to be interested in the Swiss international prior to the season, but could not complete a deal with the German side. With Shaqiri making only 13 appearances - for a total of 390 minutes - on the campaign for a Bayern team loaded with attacking talent, he will need to move elsewhere to see more of the pitch and continue to develop.
Should the Turin-based club close the deal this time around, Shaqiri would be unable to play in the Champions League this year after already featuring for Bayern, but his addition would nonetheless strengthen an already impressive attacking squad.
With Juventus having, at best, only seven matches remaining in the Champions League this season, Shaqiri's acquisition would prove a huge boost in both Serie A and cup play, where they are looking at upwards of 20 matches left on the schedule.
Of course, we've heard this rumour before, so it may be best for Juventus supporters to temper their enthusiasm for now.
