Bankrupt Italian outfit Parma has trophies auctioned off
Creditors for defunct Serie A outfit Parma FC have put a number of trophies up for auction as the Italian club deals with the process of declaring bankruptcy.
The list of items for sale includes the 1993 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, the 1994 UEFA Super Cup, and the 1999 UEFA Cup. While the team's financial situation is the most pressing issue, the sale of these trophies might be the most sentimentally painful.
The trophies aren't the only Parma gear available, though, as general items like tables, chairs, televisions, and training equipment are on the list too. Stadium fixtures, photos, and posters are also for sale as the club's creditors look to raise funds needed to pay off Parma's debt.
If you're looking for a bit of Italian Calcio history, and you're willing to pay a pretty penny for a trophy or two, have at it! Bids must be placed by Sept. 11 and the highest bidder has one month to pay off the tab on their purchases. A deposit of 10 percent is also required up front before the bid is accepted.
Parma was relegated to the Italian fifth division and is operating under a new name, Parma Calcio 1913, after the club didn't find a buyer when put up for sale midway through the 2014-15 Serie A season.
