A red card, a free kick and a first goal: In just a minute, the game between Fiorentina and AC Milan on Sunday changed dramatically.
It all started with a second booking. With just six minutes remaining in the first half, Milan defender Rodrigo Ely pushed Nikola Kalinic from behind and in the process drew a second yellow card.
That resulted in a free kick outside the box, and Fiorentina midfielder Marcos Alonso went ahead and launched a perfect shot that dipped under the crossbar.
Milan, which earned a league-high 13 red cards last season, has already started its new collection this season.
The defensive partnership is a new one, as coach Sinisa Mihajlovic gave both Ely and Alessio Romagnoli their Serie A debuts with the Rossoneri against Fiorentina.
