Kuwait's FIFA membership suspended until it functions 'independently'

Following Kuwait's failure to make changes to its sports law, the country has had its ties severed with FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation.
No duration for the suspension was disclosed in the FIFA statement, but it appears Kuwaiti football fell foul of the new measures "to improve governance as part of the reform process and to promote greater participation of women in football" that were made during a meeting in Zurich last month.
The Kuwait Football Association (KFA) had three weeks to make the changes but failed to do so, according to FIFA.
The posting on FIFA.com states: "The suspension will be lifted only when the KFA and its members (the clubs) are able to carry out their activities and obligations independently."
