Nemanja Vidic has returned to Inter Milan training for the first time in over four months after recovering from early August surgery for a slipped disc.

The former Manchester United man was excluded from Inter's 25-man Serie A squad due to the operation, and will be working for inclusion for the second half of the campaign.

"It's not easy to work on your own for six months, especially from a psychological point of view," Vidic told Inter's television channel, according to ESPN FC. "But I am feeling well now, and I am ready. I'm delighted to be back training with the team."

The 34-year-old Serbian admitted the operation was "difficult" but entirely necessary, and is desperate to force his way into first-team reckoning for Inter's bid to win the league for the first time since 2010.

Manager Roberto Mancini has backed him to find a route back into the team.

"If he is feeling well, there's no problem at all - he is an Inter player," Mancini said.

Inter is currently enjoying its winter break and faces Paris Saint-Germain in a friendly at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday.
