Alessandro Diamanti has once again returned to Italy.
The 32-year-old midfielder has signed with Atalanta on loan from Guangzhou Evergrande until the end of the season. He spent the first half of the campaign with Watford in the Premier League, but only managed three substitution appearances for the newly promoted club.
Diamanti is still under contract with the Chinese outfit, which he joined in 2014 with fellow countrymen Alberto Gilardino.
He has played for a host of Serie A clubs, the last of which was Fiorentina, where he spent the first half of 2015 on loan from Guangzhou. He also enjoyed spells at Bologna and Livorno, with a stint at West Ham in between.
Diamanti reportedly harbours ambitions of playing for the Azzurri in Euro 2016, and he will get significantly more playing time in Bergamo. His last cap for his country came in a friendly against Nigeria in November 2013.
