For a city that was famously "cursed" from winning - going 86 years without a World Series win after trading Babe Ruth - it now boasts an embarrassment of sports riches. Boston is poised to capture its third major championship in eight months if the Bruins win the Stanley Cup.

The city claims a total of 39 championships over 117 years, from the Boston Americans' World Series victory in 1903 to the New England Patriots' Super Bowl win on Feb. 3.

Boston trails only New York in total championships and is one of seven cities to win at least one championship in all four major sports. This feat is made all the more impressive having been accomplished primarily with only four franchises. 

Young Bostonians know almost nothing but winning. Boston's captured 12 titles since 2000 and is the only city to capture all four major titles this century. 

Some of the greatest athletes and prolific winners to ever play did so in a Boston jersey. They helped add to the city's championship tally and are enshrined in the hearts of Boston sports fans. 

Boston's influence is broad. The city is a hub of American culture, history, and higher education. Now, it's also firmly at the center of the sports world.
