Golden Knights nab Marner
Marner looks set to become the biggest free agent of the summer after nine years in Toronto, and Vegas swings for the fences more than any other team. Is there a match there? The Knights will have to clear some cap space to make it work, but it's a move that could put them over the top.

Oilers trade for John Gibson
After another Stanley Cup Final defeat, the Oilers need to improve their goaltending. Stuart Skinner has proven unreliable in big moments, and the free-agent goalie market is weak. A trade might be the only way to improve, and Gibson is the top option reportedly available.

The way the reality of the world is, it's not like you just go down to the corner and pick up an elite goalie.

Maple Leafs add Marchand
The Maple Leafs are seeking a DNA change after another playoff failure. Is there a better way to shake up the roster than adding a guy who's dominated the team for the last decade-plus?

He's still got it
Marchand may be 37, but he's still one of the most impactful free agents available. He posted 20 points in 23 playoff outings with the Panthers and chipped in three game-winning goals. If there's anything the Leafs need, it's a clutch postseason performer.

Montreal makes move for Marchessault
Marchessault is reportedly available after a disappointing debut year in Nashville, and a trade to his home province could be beneficial for both sides.

Marchessault's credentials
The 34-year-old has eclipsed 20 goals eight times in his career, topping out at 42 in 2023-24. He's a Stanley Cup champion and Conn Smythe winner, making him a sensible fit for the Habs as their young core looks to take the next step as playoff contenders.

Canucks and Sabres swing blockbuster
Buffalo and Vancouver are both retooling, which might make them ideal trade partners. Sabres forward JJ Peterka and defenseman Bowen Byram are reportedly on the market, and the Canucks could use help at both positions.

Could it work?
The Canucks would have to surrender significant assets to snag these players, and both need contracts as RFAs. That said, Peterka would instantly slot onto Vancouver's top line, and Byram - a B.C. native - would provide much-needed versatility to the blue line. There are obstacles, but this could be the type of move both teams need to create a spark.
