May 28, 2014: College decision

Murray, a decorated high school athlete in Allen, Texas, committed to play football and baseball at Texas A&M. He was the top QB recruit in the country and the 2014 Gatorade Football Player of the Year.

Dec. 24, 2015: Transfer

Murray left Texas A&M following one frustrating year. He settled at Oklahoma, and sat out a season before picking up both sports again.

2017: Baker's backup

Once eligible, Murray became Baker Mayfield's backup. He watched his fellow undersized pivot work his way up the board to No. 1 in the 2018 NFL Draft.

June 4, 2018: MLB draft

Murray, who posted a .296/.398/.556 slash line as a junior outfielder at Oklahoma, was the ninth overall pick by Oakland.

June 15, 2018: Signs with Athletics

The A's agreed to let Murray play the upcoming football season, as he was slated to take over the starting QB job. His contract required him to report to Oakland afterward.

2018: Rise to stardom

Murray recorded 5,362 total yards and 54 touchdowns and led the Sooners to a Big 12 title. His dominance fueled speculation that he could enter the NFL draft despite his MLB deal.

Dec. 8, 2018: Heisman

Murray topped Tua Tagovailoa and Dwayne Haskins to win the Heisman Trophy. He became the second straight Oklahoma pivot to capture the award, following Mayfield.

Feb. 7, 2019: NFL Combine plans

The NFL listed Murray among 338 prospects attending the scouting combine in late February. He hadn't yet committed to participating in drills.
