Canada's men's national team soared to new heights to end the year, jumping up four places to No. 31 in the latest edition of the FIFA rankings released Thursday.

It's the highest that Canada has ever been ranked, beating the country's previous record in early 2022 when it was No. 33.

Canada was ranked as low as 50 in 2024 after starting the year 48th. But a series of positive results helped the country steadily ascend the rankings to end the year in uncharted territory.

Jesse Marsch's squad is coming off back-to-back victories over Suriname in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals.

Canada was ranked No. 122 in October 2014, the country's lowest-ever spot in FIFA's rankings.

Meanwhile, 2022 World Cup winner Argentina is ranked No. 1 ahead of France, Spain, England, and Brazil.
