Jude Bellingham is expected to be sidelined for 10-12 weeks following surgery on his left shoulder in London on Wednesday, sources told ESPN's Adriana Garcia.

The Real Madrid midfielder has struggled with a recurring shoulder issue since dislocating it during a match in November 2023, just a few months after his €103-million transfer from Borussia Dortmund. He prioritized playing over a quick recovery, but recently outlined his decision to finally resolve the issue.

"After the Club World Cup, I'll get the surgery on my shoulder," he told Marca after a 3-1 win over Pachuca on June 22.

He added, "I'm sick of playing in the brace, especially in this heat. It will be nice to have my old body back, my old shoulder back, so, yeah, really looking forward to it."

Bellingham, 22, has scored 41 goals and contributed 27 assists across 106 La Liga and Champions League appearances since joining Real Madrid. He won both competitions and the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Intercontinental Cup, and Supercopa de Espana over his first 18 months with the club.

The Birmingham City academy graduate finished third behind Manchester City's Rodri and Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Junior for the 2024 Ballon d'Or award.
