Bolt targets 'dream' United move after training with Dortmund

Usain Bolt has stepped up plans for after he hangs up his running shoes, with the world's fastest-ever human set to take in a training session with Borussia Dortmund.

The 30-year-old has eyes fixed on one team in particular, though.

"For me, if I could get to play for Manchester United, that would be like a dream come true," Bolt told the Guardian's Decca Aitkenhead. "Yes, that would be epic."

Bolt runs a restaurant and likes to DJ on the side, but one of his most vocal passions has been football, and United in particular. He's training under Thomas Tuchel for a couple of days at Dortmund to "see what happens," but desperately wants to strut his stuff for Jose Mourinho on the Carrington training pitches.

"I haven't got the call yet, but I know it's coming. I think he's waiting until after the Olympics," Bolt joked.

Under Mourinho, who took over United last summer, things have seemed a little disjointed. He has shifted the world's most expensive player Paul Pogba around in his 4-2-3-1 to no great success, and has currently steered his ranks to an underwhelming sixth place in the Premier League and rather shaky looking status in the Europa League's Group A.

Despite the tough transition in Stretford, the nine-time Olympic gold medallist is a fan of the former FC Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid boss.

"For me, I'm happy, I'm definitely happy. I think it was a good choice. Mourinho's a winner. I really think so," said Bolt.

"He works hard to win titles and that's what Manchester United needs right now. He's building a squad and I'm looking forward to seeing much bigger players and I'm really excited by that."
