Mourinho: Ibrahimovic's knee injury 'fairly negative'

Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered a distressing knee injury Thursday after landing awkwardly on his right leg in the latter stages of Manchester United's Europa League quarter-final second leg.

The 35-year-old's right knee appeared to buckle as he duelled in the air with Anderlecht defender Kara Mbodji. Ibrahimovic hobbled off with the help of United's medical staff.

Earlier in the match, Marcos Rojo required a stretcher after treatment for another knee problem. The pair of injuries could rob manager Jose Mourinho of two of his most trusted starters for the final stretch of the season.

"I don't think these are easy injuries but I prefer to wait until all the tests are done and then speak," Mourinho said, according to the BBC. "I can't do that because I am a manager, not a doctor. But the news is fairly negative I think."

Ibrahimovic hasn't dealt with any lengthy injury absences over his career - the longest he has ever been out is 46 days, according to Transfermarkt - but the sight of this one made onlookers recoil.
