Lukaku equals Ronaldo's record for goals scored in debut Inter season
Look away, Manchester United fans.
Romelu Lukaku's spectacular debut season at Inter Milan continued Friday, as the Belgian equaled a longstanding club record by scoring his 34th goal of the campaign in the Europa League final against Sevilla.
Lukaku, who won a penalty early in the match before calmly converting it, moved level with Brazilian icon Ronaldo for most tallies by a player in their first season with the Italian side.
The retired striker accomplished the feat during the 1997-98 campaign.
Lukaku, who joined the Nerazzurri from Manchester United last summer for a reported £70-million fee, has been worth every penny; he found the net 23 times in Serie A this season, helping Inter to a second-place finish.
The red-hot 27-year-old has now scored in 11 consecutive Europa League matches.
Despite Lukaku keeping his impressive streak alive, Inter ultimately missed out on the Europa League crown, losing 3-2 to the Spanish club.
