Europa Conference League final goes to extra time in Athens
The Europa Conference League final between Olympiakos and Fiorentina has gone to extra time on Wednesday, after neither side was able to break the deadlock inside 90 minutes.
Olympiakos goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis was called upon several times in either half to keep his side level, notably denying Fiorentina's Giacomo Bonaventura and Christian Kouame.
Vicente Iborra nearly clinched a first-ever European title for a Greek club when his powerful header flashed just past the post with 10 minutes remaining.
The sides stayed locked at 0-0 despite seven minutes of injury time at the end of the second half, extra time and, possibly, penalties will now decide the winner of the 2024 Europa Conference League.
