FIFA releases Jerome Valcke's emails to Swiss prosecutors
Swiss prosecutors investigating Jerome Valcke's involvement in the resale of World Cup tickets have gained access to the suspended FIFA general secretary's emails.
Authorities can now access Valcke's official FIFA and Google email accounts, which he allegedly used to discuss a proposed scheme for selling World Cup tickets on the black market.
FIFA was initially hesitant to hand over Valcke's emails, blocking Swiss attorney general Michael Lauber's attempts to unseal the documents.
However, the world football governing body dropped all conditions relating to which emails they'd release on Thursday.
"FIFA informed the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG) to unseal all email accounts belonging to Mr. Jerome Valcke, suspended Secretary-General," according to a statement from the Swiss attorney general's office, courtesy of Sports Illustrated. "Furthermore, the OAG is pleased to note that FIFA has handed over on its own initiative Mr. Jerome Valcke's emails since May 2015."
Valcke has denied the allegations, which were made by a ticket agent with ties to FIFA, but he was placed on leave and released from his duties after the accusation.
FIFA released a statement after complying with the attorney general's demands:
FIFA has in all instances forthwith responded to any and all requests received from the Office of the Swiss Attorney General and fully supports the investigation.
FIFA has also voluntarily filed additional information and documents with the Office of the Swiss Attorney General in order to facilitate the investigation.
