Burkardt replaces injured Stiller in Germany's Nations League squad
Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann on Tuesday called up striker Jonathan Burkardt to replace the injured midfielder Angelo Stiller for the upcoming Nations League semi-finals.
The German FA (DFB) said Stiller's injured ankle "had not completely recovered" and he would not take part in the June fixtures.
Stuttgart's Stiller, 24, was injured earlier May and missed one game but returned to play a leading role in Saturday's 4-2 German Cup final triumph over Arminia Bielefeld.
Burkardt scored 18 goals in 29 league games for club side Mainz this season but was surprisingly left out of Nagelsmann's initial 26-man squad.
The 24-year-old forward has three international caps since making his Germany debut in October 2024.
Host nation Germany face Portugal in the Nations League semi-finals on June 4 in Munich, with the winner to face off against either France or Spain in the final three days later.
