Leroy Sane confirms Germany absence due to birth of daughter
The murky Leroy Sane situation may have just become a little clearer.
A day after it was announced the Manchester City winger had left Germany's team camp for "private reasons" ahead of Sunday's friendly bout with Peru, the 22-year-old revealed he was simply putting family first.
Incredibly happy to let you know about the birth of my daughter last night ❤🙏🏾 Mother and child are doing fine. 😊👍🏾

Friday's news that Sane had exited the national team base sparked rumors that all is not well between the player and the Germany hierarchy. However, there was no indication of that in his follow-up tweet, as he thanked the national team and head coach Joachim Low for allowing him to be with his partner and daughter.
Special thank you to the @DFB_Team_EN and my coach Jogi Löw for letting me leave to be at my daughter's birth. Of course I'll keep my fingers crossed for the team tomorrow! #inSané

There has been much debate surrounding Sane in recent weeks, initially stemming from the decision to omit him from Die Mannschaft's World Cup squad after a stellar season for the English champions in which he was named the PFA Young Player of the Year.
Despite that accolade, the former Schalke man has largely been left out of Pep Guardiola's City squad this season, playing a total of just half an hour of Premier League football spread across three substitute appearances thus far.
Earlier this week, Germany midfielder Toni Kroos appeared to condemn Sane's attitude and criticized his body language.
Before leaving to be with his partner and newborn, Sane had seen his first action for his country since June on Thursday in a goalless Nations League draw with France, replacing Marco Reus as an 83rd-minute substitute in Munich.
