Canada wins women's soccer gold in sudden-death penalty shootout

Canada won the women's soccer gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics on Friday by defeating Sweden in a penalty shootout.

The game ended undecided at 1-1 before Canada won 3-2 in a shootout following extra time. There were posts, crossbars, and stellar saves before Julia Grosso scored the decisive marker.

Canada fell behind 1-0 in a match Sweden controlled early. Canada tied things up on a penalty after VAR ruled Sinclair was fouled in the box. Jessie Fleming successfully took the penalty to level for the Canadians.
