Quintana leaves to standing ovation after dominating USA

Colombia's bats came alive as soon as Team USA starter Chris Archer left the game. Jose Quintana stayed in the game for Colombia, and promptly retired three more batters.

The Chicago White Sox ace held up his end of the bargain before leaving to a standing ovation from the crowd following a two-out single to Brandon Crawford in the sixth inning.

He didn't allow a hit through 5 2/3 innings. This is doubly impressive when you look at the opposing lineup. With a lone walk to Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt the only blemish, Quintana did exactly what was needed. He pitched deep into the game relative to the 65-pitch limit for the round.

After he left, reliever William Cuevas allowed two more hits leading to two runs, tying the game and squandering Quintana's excellent outing.
