Round-by-round coverage

ROUND 12: Canelo comes out as the aggressor to start the round, landing a big right and then another solid combination of punches with GGG landing a big right in response, backing off Canelo. Both fighters throw furious lefts and rights with Canelo landing more of the power shots. GGG ends the fight by throwing aggressive punches.

ROUND 11: Canelo and GGG start to slow their pace, both showing signs of fatigue as the end of the fight draws near. They exchange jabs while dancing around the ring. GGG lands a mean left hook, catching Canelo on the chin. GGG the clear aggressor in this round.

ROUND 10: Both fighters come out throwing and landing punches - Canelo landing big ones. GGG fires back with counterpunches that back Canelo off. GGG lands multiple combinations to end the round. Most aggressive round of the bout so far.

ROUND 9: GGG lands a heavy left and uppercut to open the round, stunning Canelo. Once again GGG pins Canelo to the ropes but Canelo responds with a stiff right hook. Canelo finishes the round with a flurry of landed punches.

ROUND 8: GGG's outlanding Canelo in all rounds except the second, and it continues in the eighth with GGG landing multiple punches. Canelo's getting badly outpunched by GGG in this round, who's driving him back into the ropes with repeated combinations.

ROUND 7: GGG lands a hard right hand followed by a swift left. GGG starting to throw more power punches, taking the fight to Canelo while racking up points. Round goes to GGG.

ROUND 6: Canelo lands a big right and left hook to the body. Both fighters exchange shots in the clinch and are broken up. GGG lands solid one-two combinations to Canelo's body.

ROUND 5: Canelo's getting pasted to the ropes by GGG as the fight tilts in GGG's favor. GGG lands multiple big punches to Canelo's dome and Canelo counters with punches of his own. Most competitive round of the bout so far.

ROUND 4: GGG lands hard hook to the body to open the round. GGG's taking it to Canelo in this round, looking his strongest so far. Fourth round goes to GGG.

ROUND 3: Canelo's warned for low blow early in the round. GGG's getting outboxed, looking out of breath and uncomfortable. GGG finds footing near end of the round and lands two solid punches that catch Canelo off guard. Round goes to Canelo.

ROUND 2: Canelo throwing heavy lefts but missing on most. Both GGG and Canelo are feeling each other out, with Canelo backing up GGG with counterpunches.

ROUND 1: Close but not very active opening round with both fighters landing some punches. Canelo lands the stiffer shots.
