Paige Bueckers out 6-8 weeks with tibial plateau fracture
UConn star Paige Bueckers will miss the next six-to-eight weeks after an MRI and CT scan revealed she suffered a tibial plateau fracture, the school announced Tuesday.
"Obviously, we're all extremely disappointed for Paige and that she suffered this injury. It would be really hard to describe how much basketball means to Paige and how much her teammates mean to her," Huskies head coach Geno Auriemma said in a statement.
Bueckers suffered the non-contact injury in the final minute of UConn's win over Notre Dame on Sunday.
The sophomore guard is coming off a dominant freshman campaign with UConn that saw her win the 2021 Wooden Award, 2021 Naismith Trophy, and 2021 Big East Player and Freshman of the Year, among many other accolades. Bueckers is averaging 21.2 points, 6.2 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.7 steals through six games.
The No. 3-ranked Huskies are 5-1 on the season.
