Ronaldinho rules out retirement, will focus on finding new club after Carnival
Ronaldinho, in Ronaldinho-esque fashion, will return to football once Carnival is done.
In conversation with SporTV, Ronaldinho ruled out retirement, declaring he'll take the pitch after Carnival, which kicks off Feb. 5 and runs until Feb. 10, and is considered to be the biggest carnival on the planet.
Despite being without a club since he terminated his contract with Fluminense in September, Ronaldinho represented the club from Rio de Janeiro at this month's Florida Cup
"I still won't (retire)," Ronaldinho said, according to beIN Sports. "It's good to receive this affection (from the fans), so I'm very happy. I will continue trying to reciprocate the affection they give me in the best possible way. There are many things to come in 2016. After Carnival we will see what I can do."
Prior to Carnival, however, Ronaldinho will be suiting up for Barcelona Sporting Club, a club from Guayaquil, Ecuador that shares a name with FC Barcelona and was also founded by Catalans. The two-time FIFA World Player of the Year is scheduled to play in Noche Amarilla, which translates as "Yellow Night" and will see Barcelona S.C. take on Club Deportivo Universidad de San Martin de Porres, a club from Peru, in a friendly.
For those who might not understand why Ronaldinho is prioritising Carnival over finding a new club, here are a few photos of the Brazilian phenom at the colourful party in 2011:
