Canada releases Newhook, 8 others from world junior camp

Team Canada announced its first round of cuts from its selection camp on Thursday, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
The following nine players were released:

The club will continue with 14 forwards, seven defensemen and three goalies before making its final cuts.
The tournament officially kicks off on Dec. 26.
