Sweden captured the bronze medal at the 2020 world juniors with a 3-2 victory over rival Finland on Sunday.

Patrik Puistola opened the scoring in the first period to give Finland an early advantage, but Rasmus Sandin tied the game minutes later. Matias Maccelli restored Finland's lead in the final minute of the period, but goals from Samuel Fagemo - who leads the tournament with eight tallies - and Linus Oberg in the middle frame were enough to secure the victory for Sweden.

Sampo Ranta and Fagemo were named players of the game for their respective teams following the contest.

Although Sweden heads home with a medal, the result is still somewhat disappointing for the perennial powerhouse. The Swedes once again went undefeated in preliminary round play, bringing their streak to 52 straight wins in that stage since 2008, but failed to win gold for the eighth consecutive year.

Finland, meanwhile, continued its streak of all or nothing at the tournament. The Finns won gold in three of its previous six showings, but have come away empty-handed in all the years that they didn't capture a championship.
