Report: Sparks acquiring Samuelson, No. 9 pick from Storm for Williams

The Los Angeles Sparks are expected to acquire Katie Lou Samuelson and the No. 9 pick in the upcoming WNBA draft from the Seattle Storm in exchange for Gabby Williams, Winsidr's Rachel Galligan reports.

Moving Williams helps the Sparks clear cap space in hopes of making a major free-agent signing, Galligan notes.

Los Angeles is adding a proven shooter in Samuelson, who has connected on 32.5% of her 3-pointers throughout her career and shot 35.1% from long range last season. Samuelson, 24, averaged seven points and 3.5 rebounds in 27 games with Seattle. The Sparks will be Samuelson's fourth WNBA team in four campaigns.

Meanwhile, Williams provides the Storm with a nice rotation piece to utilize off the bench. The 25-year-old played played for the French national team last year including participation in the Olympics in Japan.
