Sue Bird retiring at end of season
Seattle Storm point guard Sue Bird announced Thursday that she's retiring at the end of the WNBA season.
I’ve decided this will be my final year. I have loved every single minute, and still do, so gonna play my last year, just like this little girl played her first ☺️ #TheFinalYear @seattlestorm pic.twitter.com/Uo2YqCCKUD

The Storm drafted Bird first overall in 2002, and she's played her entire 21-campaign career in Seattle, missing two seasons with injury. She's made the All-WNBA team eight times and has won four championships with the Storm, the latest coming in 2020.
The 41-year-old also has a decorated career with the national squad, winning five gold medals as a member of Team USA since 2004.
Bird holds numerous WNBA records, including assists (3,048), All-Star Game appearances (12), and games played (559 and counting).
The Storm own a 9-5 record this season, good for second in the Western Conference. Seattle looks to extend its winning streak to five games Friday against the Connecticut Sun.
