New York Liberty superstar Breanna Stewart was named the 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player on Tuesday.

The award is Stewart's second MVP honor after taking home the hardware in 2018.

Stewart set a career-high 23.0 points per game this season to go along with 9.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.6 blocks, and 1.5 steals. She shot 46.5% from the field and 35.5% from beyond the arc.

The 6-foot-4 forward led New York to its best season in franchise history in her first year with the club, earning the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed with a 32-8 record. Stewart is the first Liberty player ever to win MVP.

Despite a loaded roster including sniper Sabrina Ionescu and 2021 MVP Jonquel Jones, the Liberty dropped Game 1 of their best-of-five semifinal series against the Connecticut Sun at home Sunday. Game 2 is set for Tuesday night.
