Report: Storm re-sign Gabby Williams to 1-year deal
Gabby Williams is returning to the Seattle Storm on a one-year contract, sources told ESPN's Alexa Philippou.
Williams was cored by the Storm, which kept her out of free agency. Seattle was willing to trade the forward if she wished to leave the franchise, but she wanted to stay.
The 28-year-old hasn't played a full season since 2022. She averaged 10.3 points, four rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.7 steals in 12 games with the Storm last season and helped lead France to a silver medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. She won Best Defensive Player of the Summer Games and was named to the All-Star Five.
Williams holds career averages of 7.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 steals.
Seattle was swept in the first round of the WNBA playoffs by the Las Vegas Aces. The franchise subsequently moved Jewell Loyd to the Aces in a three-team trade with the Los Angeles Sparks and acquired the No. 2 pick in the upcoming draft. It also re-signed Nneka Ogwumike and brought back Alysha Clark, who helped Seattle win championships in 2018 and 2020.
