Joint Korean hockey team scores 1st goal at PyeongChang 2018
The Kwandong Hockey Centre erupted with joy after the Korean women's hockey team recorded its historic first goal at PyeongChang 2018 during Wednesday's 4-1 loss to Japan.
For the first time in Olympic history, North and South Korea are competing as one - but only in women's hockey.
After falling behind 2-0 against Japan in the final game of the preliminary round, the joint Korean team ended its Olympic scoring drought when Randi Heesoo Griffin fired the puck through the five-hole of Akane Konishi.

Griffin's shot found the back of the net with 9:31 left in the second period, triggering wild celebrations in the stands.

Griffin, whose mother is from South Korea but was raised in Cary, North Carolina, was assisted by Korean-American Marissa Brandt.
Canadian hockey great Hayley Wickenheiser, who attended the game, was hopeful that the hosts would add another.
Unified Korea scored their first goal of the @Olympics and the place went nuts! So great :) here’s hoping for a few more...

But it wasn't meant to be, as Japan went on to score two more goals to secure the country's first victory at the Winter Olympics.
