Canada drops 2nd straight women's curling match, 7-6 to Sweden
The Canadian women's curling team lost their second straight match to start round-robin play at PyeongChang 2018, falling 7-6 to Sweden in 11 ends.
After Sweden jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first end, Canada evened the score in the third. From that point on, neither team could create much separation, with the margin never growing past a single point.
Canadian skip Rachel Homan forced extra ends with her final stone of the 10th end, but with the hammer in her back pocket, Sweden's skip Anna Hasselborg answered in the 11th with a suspense-free draw for the decisive point.
Prior to two-match swoon, the Canadian women hadn't lost at the Olympics since the gold-medal match versus Sweden at the 2010 Vancouver games. At Sochi four years ago, Team Canada went undefeated en route to a gold medal.
The Canadian women have never started an Olympic bonspiel 0-2. They'll look to break into the win column against Denmark on Friday at 12:05 a.m. ET.
