Russian mixed doubles bronze medalist Alexander Krushelnitsky has been named as the athlete suspected of doping at PyeongChang 2018, sources told Gabrielle Tetrault-Farber of Reuters.

The Russian delegation announced that one of its athletes tested positive for a banned substance and would be conducting a test on a "B" sample, but did not name the athlete in question.

Russian officials are set to meet with anti-doping officers in PyeongChang, though no violation will be confirmed until the "B" sample has been analyzed. The delegation said they would be taking 24 hours to test the second sample.

Meldonium, which can be used to improve an athlete's capacity to exercise, is the suspected banned substance, a source told Tetrault-Farber.

Krushelnitsky won bronze with his wife Anastasia Bryzgalova over Norway. If he is found to have been doping, he and Bryzgalova will be stripped of their medals, which will be awarded to Norway's Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten.

Many Russian athletes were banned for being linked to an alleged state-backed doping program, forcing those who were cleared to compete under the "Olympic Athletes from Russia" banner.
