Canada tops S. Korea to earn bye, U.S. to face Slovakia in qualification round

The group stage of the men's hockey tournament at PyeongChang 2018 has come to an end, revealing the initial playoff matchups.
Canada earned a bye to the quarterfinals after defeating South Korea 4-0 on Sunday. The defending champions will face the winner of the Finland-South Korea qualification playoff game.
The U.S. will face Slovakia on Tuesday, with a trip to play the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals on the line.
Canada wasn't entirely in control of its destiny, requiring a regulation victory in the Sweden-Finland game. Sweden won 3-1, capturing the top seed, bumping Finland to the fifth position, while Canada earned the final bye into the quarterfinals.
