Neymar has penalty taken away after VAR spots terrible dive
VAR giveth plenty, but for Brazil on Friday, VAR taketh away.
After multiple incidents at this World Cup where the video assistant referee awarded penalties upon review, Friday's match between the Selecao and Costa Rica saw the referee consult the replay to overturn a penalty he'd initially awarded to Neymar late in the second half.
In real time it looked as though the tricky No. 10 had been pulled down inside the penalty area by a Costa Rican defender, but upon review, Bjorn Kuipers - correctly - deemed that there was not enough contact to warrant a spot kick.

France, Peru, and Australia have all seen the new technology work to their benefit at the competition so far, but Brazil was on the opposite end of that spectrum in St. Petersburg.
Not to worry too much for the South American giant, though, as stoppage-time goals from Philippe Coutinho and Neymar eventually earned a crucial 2-0 victory.
