Twitter applauds Pavard's obscene goal, ensuing French onslaught
Full-back to full-back, just as it was drawn up.
France right-back Benjamin Pavard scored arguably the goal of the tournament Saturday against Argentina courtesy of a cross from Lucas Hernandez that found the Stuttgart defender on the edge of the area. Naturally, Twitter had a field day.
Between Nacho, Rojo and Pavard it’s been a decent tournament for the unlikely defender golazo. #WorldCup

Pavard is primarily a centre-back. Absolutely ridiculous strike.

Pavard's goal belongs in the Louvre.

Fact. Pavard is the first #FRA defender to score a #WorldCup goal since Lilian Thuram in 1998 (twice v #CRO)

This is the World Cup that keeps on giving. Journalists in the media centre in Sochi applauding that strike from Pavard. Some of them may have been Uruguayan.

And Pavard's goal that opened the floodgates for a dizzying spell from a dazzling France side - and an epic collapse from Argentina.
Argentina falling to bits.

Easy to see why Man Utd's reserve keeper is the usual number one for Argentina...
