Four more members of youth soccer team rescued from Thai cave

Good news continues to emerge from Thailand, as four more boys from the previously lost youth soccer team have been rescued from flooded caves near Thailand's northern border with Myanmar.

The number of boys saved is now at eight, with four still trapped along with their 25-year-old coach. Extraction efforts were launched Sunday, with four boys being safely rescued and sent to hospital for treatment. The first four are in good condition, hospital officials told Reuters.

Extraction of the team's coach and the four remaining players will resume Tuesday.

The "Wild Boars" youth soccer team was trapped on June 23 when the group visited the caves for exploration after practice, but due to torrential rains, floodwaters trapped the team in the vast complex of underground caves.

With the rainy season in Thailand in full swing, the remainder of the extraction must be completed as quickly as possible to avoid any further flooding and risk of losing the opportunity to rescue the final five people. Heavy rains are expected to return in the coming days, per Reuters.

There was no information provided on the condition of the four boys removed from the cave Monday.
