What’s the big story?
Apparently Liverpool’s bid price for Yevhen Konoplyanka, the world famous Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk is 16 million pounds. I don’t know him from Adam, having only watched him play a couple of times for Ukraine in their qualifying group (and alongside all of you during Euro 2012). But that, apparently, is enough to get the measure of a man. And it was certainly enough for some club scouts. The Guardian:
That target is Konoplyanka, the versatile Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk forward who scored and shone against England at Wembley in the World Cup qualifying campaign.
Konoplyanka has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League since impressing at Euro 2012, with Manchester United and Arsenal among his suitors. Liverpool hope to conclude negotiations swiftly for the 24-year-old having been gazumped by Chelsea over Salah and as they look to build on the momentum of their emphatic derby victory.
We’re now on pundit watch for which presenter will swear they’ve watched Konoplyanka in his club career following the 2012 tournament.
