Paulo Bento signed a two-year extension to remain Portugal national team coach until the end of Euro 2016.
Since being appointed in 2010, Bento led his team to the semi-finals of 2012, where they lost to Spain, the eventual champions, and secured qualification for the 2014 World Cup.
"I am honoured to continue to serve my country as I have been doing," Bento said, according to the BBC.
Bento earned 35 caps for Portugal, and played his club football at Portuguese powerhouses Sporting and Benfica.
