FINAL - England 0, Honduras 0: England can't break through against 10-man Honduras
Alternate headline: England lose to Honduras, 0-0.
So much of what England did against Honduras on Saturday night was right, but the finish just wasn't there for a squad that dominated possession and the run of play in a 0-0 final.
The draw is England's second in two matches, and while you can point to the 45 minute delay in the middle of the first half as an excuse for the poor result, Honduras deserves credit for their physical play in defense.
It seemed that each of Rooney, Wellbeck, Sturridge and Barkley had a ten minute stretch in the match where they were lights out, doing everything with the ball except finishing. Meanwhile, Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana was spectacular throughout in creating chances and avoiding the thundering challenges of the Honduran defense, but he, too, was unable to put one away.
Typically, a disappointing result in a friendly before the World Cup can be looked at as a learning experience. Unfortunately for England, there are no revelations to come out of this match. They played well, mostly as they would've planned, but simply couldn't find the back of the net.
