PHOTOS: Severe flooding in Recife hours before United States vs. Germany match
Germany and the United States are set to lock horns in Recife this afternoon, in a crucial Group G contest that could ultimately see both teams advance to the knockout stages with a draw.
The Americans' fan support has been among the most impressive in Brazil, but judging by photos that are emerging at the moment, there could be plenty of fans that are unable to reach the Arena Pernambuco in time for the match.
Recife has been hit by torrential flooding just hours before the contest is scheduled to begin, with roads resembling rivers and fans leaving their vehicles in favor of walking to the stadium.
The scenes are quite something:

Despite the hectic scenes in the city, FIFA confirmed that the match will indeed take place at the scheduled time (12:00 PM EST).
Judging by the state of the pitch, that news should not come as a surprise.
