President of Uruguay calls FIFA 'old sons of bitches,' labels Suarez ban 'fascist'
Uruguayan president Jose Mujica is the latest in the country to convey his outrage over the lengthy ban incurred by Luis Suarez in the aftermath of his latest biting incident.
Speaking as he welcomed the team back home following their 2-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 16, Mujica was asked by a reporter what his lasting memory of the 2014 World Cup would be.
"FIFA are a bunch of old sons of bitches," he said.
You can see the remarks being made in the video below. You don't need any translation here, it's plenty clear by Mujica's facial expression that he knows the comments are controversial.
As noted by The Daily Mail, covering his mouth was likely just the 79-year-old feigning shock, as he was asked by the reporter immediately if the comments could be published, to which he responded in the positive rather nonchalantly.
Mujica later conceded that Suarez, who was found guilty of biting Giorgio Chiellini in Uruguay's 1-0 victory over Italy last week, did deserve a ban considering it was his third such offense, but criticized the severity of the suspension.
"They could have punished him, but not given him this fascist ban," he said.
