FIFA announce Golden Glove and Best Young Player candidates
The candidates for the World Cup's best keeper and young players were announced Friday.
The Golden Glove nominees include three of the tournament's top keepers and the best young player award features three players as well, two of whom represent France.
Recent winners for the Golden Glove award include Fabien Barthez (1998), Oliver Kahn (2002), Gianluigi Buffon (2006) and Iker Casillas (2010).
The Best Young Player award has been a launching pad of sorts for young stars at the tournament, with Pele earning the distinction in 1958 when the awa. Other players to win include Franz Beckenbauer (1966), Michael Owen (1998), Lukas Podolski (2006) and Thomas Müller (2010).
