Ostapenko felt her Round of 16 match deserved better than Court 12
Jelena Ostapenko went from relative unknown to French Open champion last month, and now she's ready to be a regular on the big stage.
Ostapenko's stage on Monday at Wimbledon was Court 12 for her Round of 16 match with Elina Svitolina, something she wasn't pleased about.
"I mean, honestly I don't think about that," Ostapenko said, according to Mark Masters of TSN. "But, I mean, yeah, I think I deserve to play on a better court than Court 12, I guess."
Ostapenko was surprised when she saw the schedule.
"I mean, yes. Also, Elina is No. 4 in the world," Ostapenko added. "I think our match was a very interesting match for the people to watch. They put us on Court 12. Is still good. I mean, has the Hawk-Eye. But I thought we would play on a bigger court."
Perhaps Ostapenko will get a better court when she faces Venus Williams in the quarters.
