Serena Williams can officially add a new title to her long list of distinctions: Mother.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion gave birth to a baby girl in Palm Beach on Friday, the New York Daily News' Nicole Bitette reports.
Williams, who will turn 36 later in September, has been on maternity leave since the Australian Open in January. She won that tournament - beating sister Venus in the final - to break Steffi Graf's Open-era major title record, all while being about four weeks pregnant.
Serena has said she plans to return to the tour at next year's Aussie Open.
