Sharapova moves into Aussie Open semis with win over Bouchard
Maria Sharapova took advantage of an error-prone Eugenie Bouchard en route to an 6-3, 6-2 victory in the Australian Open quarterfinals Tuesday.
The No. 2 Sharapova was sharp throughout the match as she chases her second career title in Melbourne. She won six-of-seven net points and converted four-of-eight break points against the Canadian.
Sharapova will next face Russian countrywoman Ekaterina Makarova in the semifinals.

Bouchard, meanwhile, failed to find any sort of rhythm from the start of the match. The 20-year-old was especially bad on second-serve points, which she won just six-of-21 times. She finished with 30 unforced errors.
Bouchard had been attempting to return to the Aussie Open semis after her surprising debut run last year.
